A TBM-1C in flight
A TBM-1C in flight, shown with the radio and television receiver / transmitter antenna in the deployed position. The additional weight added by this equipment was minimal. In addition to the standard radio and TV controls, the TDR could be controlled by a beacon transmitter using a radar set on board the TBM. TBMs carried a crew of three in addition to the pilot: a radioman and control pilot shared the rear cockpit, and a machine gunner sat in a rear turret. (Courtesy Norm Tengstrom)
