I am attempting to reach Nick Spark to give him information about my grandfather, Henry Walden, inventor of the first American Monoplane, in 1909. I also have information on what our family lore always called a "guided missle" but was infact a model of a drone, a missle that would contain explosives which was to be dropped from an airplane and guided by radio waves to its target, hence we called it a guided missle. He attempted to get the military interested in in but in their wisdom they weren't interested. The model, which can be googled online along with much other info on this amazing man, is supposedly stored in the Smithsonian Museum, but not on display. He does have on display in the Air and Space Museum in the Old Timers section a small model of him on one of his monoplanes. I will be happy to forward you the information I have on this drone and other info on my grandfather if you reply to me. I've googled pictures of it and have them at my office if you're interested.

His son, my uncle, James Walden, is still alive and lives in Florida and has much info on this incredibly creative man with many patents to his name, and is a family treasure.

Ps I saw your name on the tv show about the bombing of Hitlers bomb center designed to destroy London. I don't have the name of the show in front of me and decided to google you

My father was Earl Thomas Ashley, who married Leona Rose Stumm (still alive and well at 93) whom he met in Traverse City during the war. I just found a number of old photographs that none of his children have ever seen before. It appears to show the STAG II Commissioning event in Eagle Mountain Lake, Texas. Interested?

I was 18 years old and was in STAG-1 from the beginning through 1944. I started in Clinton, Oklahoma, then to Travers City, Michigan, from there to Monterray, California (where I was assigned to the ordinance group) and then to Benika Island in the Solomons. We were there until the completion of the program at which time I was transferred to crash boats. I did not know we were able to speak about STAG-1 until I found this website. This is very interesting, thank you!
